The Merida Big Nine 15 is designed as an accessible introduction to mountain biking, combining dependable components with a frame that reflects modern trail design. The lightweight aluminium frame uses Merida’s TFS construction, delivering a good balance of strength, weight and durability for regular riding.
The updated geometry features a longer reach, slacker head angle and steeper seat tube, giving a more stable and confident feel on descents while maintaining an efficient pedalling position for climbs and flatter terrain. This makes it suitable not just for trails, but also for everyday rides and fitness use.
Up front, the SR Suntour XCE28 fork provides 100mm of travel to absorb bumps and smooth out rough ground. It helps reduce fatigue on longer rides and improves control when riding off-road.
The Shimano 2x7 drivetrain offers a wide range of gears, making it easier to tackle climbs while keeping the setup simple and easy to maintain. It’s a practical choice for riders new to mountain biking or those looking for straightforward reliability.
Mechanical disc brakes provide consistent stopping power in a range of conditions, offering dependable performance without complex maintenance.
Rolling on 29” wheels, the Big Nine 15 benefits from improved rollover ability, helping it carry speed and maintain stability over uneven terrain. The 2.2” tyres provide a good balance of grip and efficiency for mixed surfaces.
With internal cable routing and mounts for accessories like mudguards and a kickstand, the Big Nine 15 is built to adapt to everyday use as well as off-road riding. It’s a solid, confidence-inspiring hardtail for riders starting their trail journey.
