The Merida Silex 8000 is a gravel bike designed for riders who see cycling as adventure. Instead of reworking a road or cyclocross frame, Merida created the Silex from the ground up, drawing on modern mountain bike influences to deliver stable yet nimble handling. Its long top tube, generous head tube and short stem provide a confident position when tackling rough tracks, while still offering efficiency on smoother roads.

The CF2 carbon frame keeps the bike light and responsive while providing clearance for up to 700x45c tyres (42c with mudguards). With Disc Cooler technology, braking heat is managed more effectively, particularly valuable when carrying gear on loaded bikepacking rides. The carbon fork is equally capable, with a revised design that allows riders to swap in a suspension fork without compromising the geometry.
A wireless SRAM Apex AXS drivetrain with an Eagle X1 rear derailleur delivers smooth 12-speed shifting and a wide 10-52t cassette range, perfect for spinning up steep gravel climbs. Stopping is handled by SRAM Apex hydraulic disc brakes with oversized 180mm rotors, giving reliable control even on long descents.
Wheels are DT-Swiss G 1800 SPLINE, tubeless-ready with a gravel-specific profile that pairs perfectly with 45c Maxxis Rambler tyres. These tyres balance volume, grip and rolling speed, making them ideal for mixed-terrain rides. Comfort is enhanced further with Merida’s Team SL carbon seatpost and a Prologo Scratch M5 AGX saddle, which also integrates a mini tool for trail-side adjustments.
Practicality is built into the Silex: multiple mounting points for bottles, luggage racks and accessories mean it’s ready for bikepacking expeditions as well as daily rides. Internal routing for dropper posts and compatibility with dynamo systems give riders even more options to customise their setup.
