The Specialized Rockhopper 29 is built to deliver better performance and value, making it a great option for riders starting out in mountain biking or those wanting a versatile hardtail for mixed terrain. The A1 premium butted alloy frame is lightweight yet durable, featuring clean internal cable routing, a replaceable derailleur hanger, stealth rack mounts and dropper post compatibility for future upgrades.
Suspension is handled by the SR Suntour XCE fork, with size-specific travel from 80mm to 100mm depending on frame size. This ensures every rider gets the right balance of comfort and control, while the 28mm stanchions provide stability for confident handling.
Shimano’s Altus 2x9 drivetrain offers reliable gear changes and a wide range for climbing, flats and descents. RapidFire Plus shifters make it easy to shift quickly, while the 11–36T cassette gives plenty of gearing for varied gradients.
Braking is taken care of by Tektro HD-M280 hydraulic discs, offering consistent stopping power in all weather conditions. Paired with Specialized alloy double-wall rims and 29x2.35” Ground Control tyres, the Rockhopper provides grip, traction and a stable ride across trails and rougher ground.
Finishing kit includes a Bridge Sport saddle for comfort, a sturdy 2-bolt alloy seatpost and Specialized platform pedals. With a complete build weight of just 14.1kg, the Rockhopper is efficient uphill as well as confident downhill.
The Specialized Rockhopper 29 is more than just an entry-level mountain bike – it’s a trail-ready machine designed to help riders progress their skills, explore further and enjoy every ride with confidence.
